October 2024: Creativity fuels culture
We aspire to be a free-to-read, share, download, and even print (use your home printer and recycle: a paper printed on the front can still be used!) magazine for all those seeking a moment with arts.
Even in a world where we have accepted and embraced the idea that creativity fuels culture, we often forget to honor the artists. We haggle with artists for a ‘better’ price for their ‘creation,’ put out requests for ‘free’ passes for concerts, shows, or exhibitions, and more. Our little actions may seem harmless, but they undervalue the labor, talent, and time invested in creating art..
This month, I want us to remember that artists dedicate years to perfecting their craft, visual art, music, or performance. One can’t bargain with the countless hours of practice and sacrifice that have gone into their journey.
P.S: In an era of ChatGPT and Paywalls, we’re daring to create original content and offer it to our readers without a fee. Your support would go a long way. Subscribe to the portal, and meet us on socials as well.
One can always acknowledge and appreciate the dedication if one can’t ‘afford’ to support their work. We also often forget that for many, art is not just a passion; it’s also a livelihood, as it should be, and just like other professions, the fees paid for the work can help sustain these professionals. Artists are the heart of cultural and social progress, and we can all do our part to ensure that these creators can continue making meaningful contributions to our cultural landscape. Let us honor their work with respect rather than negotiate!
