Dubai: Enter the world of Bohemian Paris

Searching for Pierrot is coming to the stage in not just one language but in two – English and French.

After performing in Pakistan, the US, and Dubai this summer, Searching for Pierrot returns to The Junction, Alserkal Avenue, Dubai, for one day only and, for the first time, will be presented in two languages: French and English. An intricately told one-person play in which Gillian plays multiple characters, Searching for Pierrot was nominated for Best Original Script at the Junction Awards 2024 and praised for its originality, storytelling, and surprise ending.

In Bohemian Paris, where the pantomimes reign and the freak shows delight, a young boy finds refuge from his overbearing father and uncaring mother by escaping to the theatre. But when he realizes one day that the famous sad clown of the mimes, Pierrot, is not a real person, he becomes determined to discover the actor's true identity. A simple question becomes a quest, and to succeed, he must face challenges of all kinds, from the shadowy alien creature that haunts the freak show to the fiery eyes of the Lady in Red, leading him to the most unexpected answer.

The show features live accompaniment by Dubai-based musician Amoon Dass and is appropriate for children ages five and above.

I'm delighted to bring my beloved play Searching for Pierrot to the stage in not just one language but in two – as Pierrot is a French character and the setting is Paris, it was only a matter of time!
