Cross Bronx Studio is one of Dubai’s top theatre groups. It has a track record for outstanding productions of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, with sold-out and highly acclaimed productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth.

Co-founder of Cross Bronx Studio, Satya Baskaran (The Shape of Things, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Holmes and Watson, Blind City, Go Back For Murder, Macbeth, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (director)), who plays Mercutio in the production, added: “Cross Bronx has always been a place where we’ve made the work we wanted to make, work that excited us, in the way that we want to make it. When my co-founders, Mario (Silva) and Lydia (DeSouza), came together, we realized that it was also a place where different artists, performers, cultures, and ideas could come and grow. We’ve been strongly community-driven and want to elevate that even further. Shakespeare is our first love, and it speaks volumes that his work is being performed centuries later. We love Shakespeare, and we love making it accessible to all — cast and audience — so that you can share our love, too. Romeo & Juliet has been something that our brilliant co-founder Lydia has reimagined and had on our docket for a long time — merging this legendary tale with the legend of Freddie Mercury. In a truly unique interpretation, Queen has been fused with this tale of friendship, brotherhood and the enduring power of love...”
